Recognizing Survivors During National Crime Victims’ Rights Week
National Crime Victims Rights Week is almost upon us! Marsy’s Law for Wisconsin is looking forward to spending next week recognizing survivors from across Wisconsin and providing opportunities for crime victims to share their stories with supporters and with each other.
Last week, we told you all a bit about the Day of Healing and Wrap Around the Capitol with Marsy’s Law for Wisconsin supporter the Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault (WCASA). We’re looking forward to attending that great event for survivors and allies on Saturday and hope to see you there!
This week, we wanted to tell you more about some of the other events taking place around Wisconsin throughout National Crime Victims Rights Week. There will be lots of opportunities to get involved and to spread the word about Marsy’s Law.
Early in the week, our team will be visiting the Milwaukee Women’s Correctional Facility for a Crime Victim Rights Week Event. We look forward to discussing the need for stronger rights for crime victims and hearing stories from the unique perspectives of this group of women. We will be following that up with another Milwaukee-area event with Marquette Empowerment on the Marquette University campus.
Our biggest day will be Thursday when the Marsy’s Law for Wisconsin team encourages survivors and allies alike to attend the National Crime Victims’ Rights Week Ceremony hosted by Attorney General Brad D. Schimel with the Wisconsin Crime Victims Council & The Department of Justice Office of Crime Victim Services. After the ceremony, Marsy’s Law for Wisconsin will be making an exciting announcement. Be sure to stay tuned!
The Marsy’s Law for Wisconsin team is looking forward to a big week and can’t wait to see you all at some of these great events! Make sure to follow along on our Facebook and Twitter pages for more updates about all of the events and opportunities taking place throughout the week.
