Giving Thanks for You

With Thanksgiving upon us, the holiday season begins. For those who have lost loved ones, it can be the toughest time of year, especially for people who have lost a family member or friend to a violent crime like homicide.

All of us at Marsy’s Law for Maine wish to let those whose lives have been forever changed by crime in Maine know that our thoughts and best wishes for healing are with you during this season.

We also want to express our gratitude to each and every individual and organization that has voiced their support for Marsy’s Law for Maine. That includes legislators — some of whom are sponsors of the Marsy’s Law bill that will be before our lawmakers next year — community leaders across Maine, members of law enforcement and the faith community, and the more than 8,000 people who have shown their support on Facebook to date.

Most importantly, we want to thank the victims of crime who have joined our effort. Victims are the individuals most impacted by a crime. They are the individuals most impacted by having lesser rights than the accused and convicted. And they are the individuals who will be most impacted by the equal rights Marsy’s Law for Maine finally will afford them and all Maine citizens going forward.

We are grateful for your crucial support, and for everything you continue to do to move this important equal rights effort forward.
